Hello, my name is Kun Xi. I am happily married to Dr. Hui Jin and live in the beautiful Sammamish, where we raised our two kids, Olive and Gavin.

I currently work remotely for Epic Games, focusing on delivering the assets more effectively to players and designers. I launched this blog on Blogger in 2005, later moving to WordPress for its flexibility. Initially, the hosted WordPress, then switched to self-host. After a break in 2012, I resumed writing in 2013 and transitioned this site to static site generators over the years, first nanoc, then metalsmith, then Gatsby, and recently migrated to Astro.

UX isn’t exactly my strong suit, so I’ve taken the opportunity to explore this wonderland. I began with full-featured CSS frameworks like Bootstrap, then shifted to customizing a minimalist framework, PureCSS with Sass. When I migrated to Gatsby, I started experimenting with functional CSS, first with Tachyons and later with TailwindCSS.

This site is built with the Astro which leverages remark/rehype ecosystem, such as:

remark-math and rehype-katex for latex support.
remark-graphviz to render graphics via DOT declarative language.
rehype-slug and rehype-autolink-headings to add back links to the headers.

Also libraries and tools:

inkscape, the poor man’s Illustrator.
chartist.js, charting with simplicity.
Jupyter Notebook for my Machine Learning notes.
